I
started building bows fourteen years ago under the guidance of Sterling
Jensen. Sterling, a national flight shooting champion, had a bow company
in the sixties that sold approximately Twenty five bows a month. Always
patient, keenly knowledgeable, Sterling was able to instruct me in the
intricacies of bow building. His golden rule was “the less mass in the limbs, the faster they recover, the greater the cast”. To accomplish this we use a blend of the past and material of the future. To me, bamboo represents not only the heritage of the sport, but a commitment to making bows from a proven material. Combine with modern day materials and you have an excellent hunting weapon. I am thankful for Sterling Jensen and his friend Harry Drake for their useful information and mentoring. Harry, was the traditional bowyer from Browning who still holds a flight shooting record and is in the Bow Hunter Hall Of Fame. |
